Bloating During Ovulation- Water Fun!
Ovulation can be a joyous time in your life, or something you dread. Either you are waiting excitedly for it so you can try to conceive, or you are anxiously looking on waiting for the PMS to hit. Whether you are excited or anxious, everyone agrees that bloating during ovulation is something no one looks forward to.
Why?
Bloating during ovulation is a result of a combination of things: hormonal changes and an increase in salt intake. When some women ovulate they crave chips, popcorn, cheese, and other super salt foods. When they load up on these salt encrusted foods, their bodies load up on water. It’s as simple as that. Don’t blame just your cravings; hormones share the blame here too. Most of the time, female hormones are your friends. But sometimes they are back stabbing harpies bent on revenge against your jeans! Don’t fret, that bloating during ovulation only lasts a short while. Your hormones will be your friends again in a few weeks.
Water Retention Feels like Detention!
When that time of the month hits, you can feel like you just want to punch something or someone. When that time of the month is accompanied by its almost constant companion, bloating, you feel like you want to KILL something! When your hormone levels go north, and your desire for exercise goes south, bloating can occur. Bloating during ovulation is a common annoyance that drives most women indoors for the week. When your clothes don’t fit right, when your rings don’t go on, when your cravings for ice cream have you running to the store constantly you can feel like you have been hit by a truck loaded with bricks. Because of that fact that more women gain a little bit of weight around this time, some may feel self conscious, un-sexy, fat, ugly, or even just generally “blah”. No one wants to feel un-sexy! Take heart! When bloating during ovulation occurs, pull out your flowing skirts and summery shirts and take the larger waistline in stride. Don’t let yourself be hemmed in by sweat pants and hoodies!
Remedies for Bloating During Ovulation
Ovulation isn’t a curse word, and neither is bloating; especially when bloating during ovulation can be so easily treated. Yes, you are asking, “What can I do to get rid of this excess water?!” First, drink more water and eat less salt. Second, take an over the counter diuretic to allow your body to release some of the damned-up water. Third, if you can't seem to find an over the counter medicine that works for you, visit your gynecologist or family doctor. When all else fails, they can prescribe something for you.
